National Sorry Day 2020
Michelle Auld June 4th
On Tuesday, 26th May, St Joseph’s School participated in activities to commemorate National Sorry Day. The Year 3-6 students started the day by reading “Sorry Day”, by Coral Vass and Dub Leffler.
To explain the concept of Sorry Day, students drew pictures of their families, their memories and where they live. Students were then asked to rip their picture up into tiny pieces. It was then explained that this is how the Aboriginal people would have felt when they were ripped away from their families. All of their memories and their families would never be the same. This was followed by a range of activities relating to the Aboriginal culture.
