On Monday 21st March 2016, St Joseph’s School celebrated Harmony Day. Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. It is a day for all Australians to embrace cultural diversity and to share what we have in common.
The central message for Harmony Day 2016 is that ‘everyone belongs’, reinforcing the importance of inclusiveness to all Australians.
On this day, we went to Mass and then the children from Pre-Primary to Year 6 were involved in several cultural activities between recess and lunch, based around the Chinese culture.
For lunch, we celebrated all together by bringing a plate of food to share from another country. All parents were invited to join us for lunch at 12:50pm and then watch the children participate in some dance and movement after lunch.
The day was fantastic and a joy to be a part of. We would like to thank Sister Leonie for joining in with our Harmony Day celebrations with us. Well done to all of the staff for their efforts.
