Sustainable Learning Practices

Michelle Auld June 5th

Over the last few weeks there have been a few changes in the Early Years Classroom as we try to adopt more sustainable practices and teach the children about caring for the environment. We have created a worm farm and we hope to extend this to two in the near future once it is established. We also discussed what things we would like to grow in our veggie gardens and decided on capsicum, spinach, snow peas and some herbs. We hope to use some of these vegetables in the classroom for cooking and eating.

We hope to share this project with you all and extend it to a whole school initiative so all students can take part in the care and maintenance of our sustainable learning projects.

We will also be looking at our school waste and trying to join in more waste wise projects in the future. Stay tuned for tips and ideas of how to be more sustainable.
